Manish Biala is a commerce graduate from the Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, Delhi and thereafter, completed his LLB at Delhi University. Manish is Partner with Anand and Anand in litigation and also heads the customs practice.
He has conducted several civil and criminal raids on behalf of reputed global brands throughout India. He regularly appears in contentious matters before various Indian Courts and Customs offices.
Manish has successfully represented various Indian and International companies for brand protection actions. Manish has the knack of using favourable orders for maximum social impact. Most recently, he secured an order from the Delhi High Court for the Plaintiff in Birla Publications vs. R.K. Rajput& Anr., wherein more than 8,000 impugned books authored and published by the Defendants were ordered to be distributed among deserving and needy students.
He has also obtained favourable orders for Hyundai, which impact the automobile industry, with respect to fair use of trademarks.
Manish also represents International luxury brands like Montblanc, Cartier, Dunhill, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Bose, Bottega Veneta etc. before Indian Customs and courts to enforce their intellectual property rights against counterfeiters and importers. He has obtained various unique orders from Customs authorities against the importers for the import of counterfeit products, with heavy penalties on them.
Manish is also closely working with BASCAP to represent the rights and interests of the stakeholders in the industry, before the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) for better enforcement of Intellectual Property laws at the Indian borders and recommending the CBIC to adopt best practices for IP enforcement through Customs.
He also regularly conducts training workshops on behalf of Government of India for enforcement agencies like Police and Customs to educate them with respect to their powers and procedures under intellectual property laws, and he has been recently appreciated by the Government of India for his pro-bono services in this regard.Back
