The business law fraternity was out in full force with more than nearly 150 lawyers and corporates in attendance.

Like both preceding years, the Rising Star Young Achievers Awards 2018 garnered an overwhelming response and our distinguished jurists and panelists had to struggle to shortlist the winners from a long list of contenders.

The Ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Hon’ble Shri Suresh Prabhu, Minister for Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation, Government of India; Guest of Honor Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw, Judge, High Court of Delhi; and Distinguished Guests Dr. Lalit Bhasin, President, Bar Association of India & Society of Indian Law Firms; Rajiv K Luthra, Founder & Managing Partner, Luthra & Luthra Law Offices; Pravin Anand, Managing Partner, Anand and Anand; Pulin Kumar, Group Sr. Legal & Compliance Director, Adidas India; Ajit Yadav, Managing Partner, Lexaya Partners; Manoj Kumar, Founder and Managing Partner, Hammurabi & Solomon – Advocates & Corporate Law Advisors; Shweta Bharti, Senior Partner, Hammurabi & Solomon – Advocates & Corporate Law Advisors; and Amir Singh Pasrich, Managing Partner, I.L.A. Welcoming the distinguished dignitaries and guests, Aakriti Raizada, Founder and CEO, Legal Era - Legal Media Group, said, “The legal sector has produced and witnessed generations of bright scholars and outstanding community leaders, including the many of you here. I believe that your joint presence here today clearly demonstrates that the legal profession is establishing itself as an increasingly important area, the reasons for which are obvious and very practical, and we are pleased to play a part in supporting its development and growth. I am convinced that this Event will mark the beginning of the recognition of Up-and-Coming professionals taking the industry forward.”

In a fitting tribute to these first-of-a-kind Awards recognizing excellence among budding young lawyers and law firms, Chief Guest Hon’ble Shri Suresh Prabhu, Minister for Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation, Government of India, said, “Congratulations for such a nice idea to honor those who are yet to begin their lives because we believe that life begins at 40. As we can see, actually not only people begin their lives at 40, but probably, lawyers begin their lives a little later also because as you grow old, you acquire more skills, argumentative legit, ideas, and therefore, I am sure that those who have won the awards today are the ones who will be even shining more in the years to come... Making law is also becoming a very challenging issue now and is going to be complex, but at the same time, with participation from stakeholders, it might even become easy... I think we have very interesting and challenging times ahead. And I am sure with such young lawyers becoming now the new stars, we will be able to address these issues more effectively.”

Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw, Judge, High Court of Delhi, in his address, said, “This is a turning age, something happens, and what I have thought and what I have seen is that at this age, a lot of people start confusing achievement for financial progress. What you have achieved today, I think your financial progress is assured, whether you do anything more or not, you continue on that path and that will multiply now. But what you have to be mindful of is that achievement should not be confused with financial progress.”

Dr. Lalit Bhasin, President, Bar Association of India & Society of Indian Law Firms, said, “For a practicing lawyer, an academic lawyer, and a law teacher, in this second decade of the 21st Century, there can be no better motto than Changing The World. The world of law needs changing both in India and elsewhere and this is a transformation I hope my young friends in law will witness during their working lives because I believe that the legal profession almost as no other profession belongs only to the young.”
